SUMMARY:Webinar: Financing Energy Efficiency in the Industry Sector
DESCRIPTION:The Energy Union Framework Strategy includes energy efficiency as one of its five dimensions and states it is to be considered as an energy source in its own right. The ambitious Paris climate agreement also underlines the importance of energy efficiency. To realise its full potential\, public funds will not suffice and private financing will have to be unlocked on a large scale. \nThis webinar\, organised in partnership with the UN Environment Finance Initiative\, will discuss in particular the financing of investment into energy efficiency in the Industry sector. \nThis webinar will hear 4 presentations: \n\nAn introduction from the DG Energy\, European Commission;\nWinfried Braumann\, from REENAG\, will present the project TrustEE funded by the Horizon 2020 programme;\nDaniel Magallon from Energy BASE\, will talk about the Energy Savings Insurance (ESI) Europe project that has also received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme;\nMaria Netto from the Inter-American Development Bank will share about the experience of supporting the set-up of an ESI mechanism in South America and will provide further background and experiences.\n\nThis event is organised by the Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME) as part of the Sustainable Energy Investment Forums initiative\, funded by the Horizon 2020 programme of the European Union. \nFor more information please visit the Sustainable Energy Investment Forum webpage. \n
