Chrome Martin is a company of the Polígono Industrial Las Monjas in Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid), 42 years old and 15 workers. It has implemented the ISO 9001. With the energy audit carried out within the US-METAL project seeking to learn what their strengths and weaknesses when it comes to improving energy efficiency and thus achieve a cost savings while respecting the environment.
Its activity consists in coating of metal parts by dipping them in electrolytic baths. There are six lines of process, three of them automatic (zinc and phosphate) and three manuals (nickel plated, chrome plated, tinned, copper and aluminium). Main energy consuming equipment are rectifiers and heaters in the bathrooms.
Shares of energy efficiency
The best action begins with the awareness of the employees: training in issues of energy efficiency and control of the equipment is required. It is recommended that qualified in matters of maintenance personnel there are. Significant improvements in the lines of baths (with the covering of the same), in the system of air can be compressed (by adjusting the equipment to the real needs of the company and reducing leakage), controlling the hours of operation of the equipment and incorporating more efficient equipment as they are replacing, among others.
